Budimex has signed a €3.7 billion contract to build a 230 km section of the Rail Baltica railway in Latvia. The consortium ERB Rail, consisting of Eiffage Génie Civil (France), Budimex (Poland), and Rizzani de Eccher (Italy), will undertake the project. Rail Baltica aims to connect Tallinn to Warsaw, integrating Baltic countries into the European railway network.
The contract covers 175 engineering structures and 11 wildlife crossings. Budimex, with a 30% stake, will handle civil engineering and track construction. The project, financed mainly by the Connecting Europe Facility, begins in 2024 and spans eight years.
