Canpack Food and Industrial Packaging face strike over wages

Employees of Canpack Food and Industrial Packaging, represented by their trade union, have announced a strike scheduled for June 20th at their facilities in Brzesko, Poland, citing low wages as the main reason. Despite generating significant profits for the company annually, with net profits nearly doubling from 35 to 67 million PLN between 2020 and 2023, many physical laborers' salaries remain close to the minimum wage. The workers, organized under the Inicjatywa Pracownicza union, are demanding wage increases averaging 14.4%.
Over 92% of the workforce voted in favor of the strike, with a turnout of 66%. Canpack, part of a global group employing around 9,000 people worldwide, faces labor unrest affecting approximately 650 employees across its Brzesko and Dębica plants, where four unions operate.
