CEE Digital Coalition: CEE needs unified AI development strategy

According to the CEE Digital Coalition report, artificial intelligence (AI) could significantly boost competitiveness, innovation, and productivity in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). To achieve this, the region needs a joint AI strategy, including a regional AI supercluster, a common investment fund, and grant programs for businesses. Despite having more ICT companies and higher employment in the sector than Western Europe, CEE lags in digital transformation and AI adoption.
Experts call for harmonized regulations, data infrastructure, and regulatory sandboxes to encourage innovation. Unified standards would support AI firms in scaling globally. With coordinated efforts, CEE countries can turn AI into a major growth driver, provided the region addresses current technological, legal, and cultural challenges.
