The value of sales of small-format stores up to 300 sqm increased by 13.7 percent y/y in April and in monthly terms by 4.5 percent, according to data from the Market Monitoring Center (CMR) and the Polish Chamber of Commerce (PIH).The high growth in turnover in annual terms is the product of Easter which was celebrated in April this year.
As shown by CMR and PIH data, in supermarkets (that is, stores with an area of 300–2,500 sqm, excluding discount stores), the value of sales in April was by as much as 21 percent higher than in the previous year, mainly due to higher sales of various types of spices and culinary condiments, processed vegetables and sweets.
