Columbus wants counterintelligence protection against theft of IP
Columbus Energy says it has asked Poland’s Internal Security Agency to place the group under counterintelligence protection, claiming it is the target of a coordinated attempt to seize its strategic perovskite solar technology and transfer it abroad. The request covers companies developing perovskite cells, including Saule, and energy infrastructure projects. Columbus alleges a disinformation campaign, hacking attacks and an undisclosed effort in 2025 to offer the technology to foreign entities without the company’s involvement.
It argues the technology, partly funded with over PLN 140 million in public money, has dual use significance. Some claims are disputed, including by scientist Olga Malinkiewicz, while several ministries denied involvement in alleged takeover talks.
