Construction begins on Koneser Tenement House on Piotrkowska Street in Łódź

Construction has begun on Kamienica Konesera, a long-awaited investment at Piotrkowska 58 in Łódź, filling a 16-year gap in the city’s most prestigious street. The former tenement, built in 1872–1876 by Dawid Izrael Freind and redesigned in 1912 with ornate balconies and a mansard roof, was demolished in 2009 by its then-owner Łódzki Zakład Energetyczny, leaving only a ruin. The new five-story residential and commercial building, developed by Budomal with conservator oversight, will faithfully reconstruct the 1912 façade, including decorative stuccowork and railings, while offering modern interiors.
Completion is scheduled for late 2026. The project aims to restore Piotrkowska’s architectural heritage and revive a declining part of Łódź’s historic center.
