Core inflation inches up to 1% in January - NBP

Core inflation, excluding food and energy prices, amounted to 1.0 percent in annual terms in February 2019, against 0.8 percent a month before, the National Bank of Poland announced on Monday. CPI inflation rate reported by statistics office GUS increased in February to 1.2 percent y/y (an 0.5 pp increase compared to January).

“The increase in [CPI] inflation was mainly boosted by the increase of food prices (vegetables), as well as prices of services (mainly in the field of communication and administered services related to the use of housing). The increase in fuel prices was also significant.
