Polish space company Creotech Instruments will lead the European Twardowski lunar mission, which aims to map minerals that could support construction of future research bases on the Moon. The spacecraft will use broad-spectrum infrared instruments to identify materials containing elements such as oxygen and hydrogen, producing maps for programs including Artemis. Creotech is the mission’s prime contractor, consortium leader and provider of the satellite platform and system architecture.

The launch is provisionally planned for late 2029 from ESA’s spaceport in French Guiana. The project marks Poland’s growing role in European space missions. Creotech has participated in more than 40 European missions and is increasingly building complete satellites based on its proprietary HyperSat platform.
