Polish space company Creotech Instruments has signed a EUR 13.9 mln contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to build and launch the SAWA satellite. The PLN 60 mln project will run from October 2026 to October 2030, with launch planned for H1 2029. SAWA will collect near-real-time data on Earth’s magnetosphere and thermosphere to support monitoring and forecasting of space weather, including geomagnetic storms and high-energy particles that can disrupt satellites, navigation, power grids, and radio communications.

Creotech will lead a consortium including the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and N7 Space. It is Poland’s first ESA satellite mission delivered under a mission-as-a-service model.
