Cyberattacks on Polish energy sector intensifying
Polish grid operator PSE will establish CSIRT Energia, a specialized team to detect cyberthreats, coordinate incident responses and support approximately 1,200 energy-sector entities. Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said the sector recorded 8,000 cybersecurity incidents in 2026, three times the number in the corresponding period of 2025. He linked mounting threats against critical infrastructure to Russia’s ongoing cyberwar against Poland. Affected companies must implement National Cybersecurity System Act obligations by April 3, 2027.
The deadline for establishing CSIRT Energia is October 3, 2027, although officials aim to launch it sooner. It will become Poland’s fifth sector-specific response team, cooperating with national teams and helping companies fulfill cybersecurity duties.
