After the U.S. sharply raised tariffs in 2025 – from an average of 2% to 15%, the highest level in a century – most EU countries saw their exports to the American market decline. Sixteen out of twenty-seven member states recorded drops, with Austria, Slovakia, Spain and Germany among the hardest hit.

Poland, however, maintained slight growth of 0.3%. The key reason is strong performance in electrical equipment (CN 85), which grew 9% and now accounts for 16% of Poland’s U.S.-bound exports – mainly cables, electronic components and TV equipment. Furniture exports rose 15%, benefiting from higher tariffs imposed on Asian competitors, while steel products grew 23% on strong demand for kitchen equipment. Declines were recorded in precision machinery, medical devices, jet engines and boats, including yachts.
