DocPlanner, the Polish medical services booking platform, according to unofficial information, has joined the group of the so-called unicorns, i.e. technology startups whose valuation exceeds $1 billion. This means that DocPlanner has become the first Polish technology company in history, the value of which has been valued by global investors at over $1 billion (almost PLN 3.9 billion).

The information about exceeding this threshold was provided by the London-based portal unquote, specializing in writing about transactions on non-public markets, i.e. private equity and venture capital.

According to unquote anonymous sources, DocPlanner completed its undisclosed funding round after a unicorn valuation in August this year. This means that the investors who analyzed the Polish startup found that a number of components of the company's valuation indicators (such as its current or future earning potential, strategy, management, patents or technologies, etc.) make the company worth more than $1 billion.

As unquote adds, it is not known how much money DocPlanner raised for development in the last round, but the portal's informants indicated that another undisclosed round of financing is expected within the year.

Founded in Poland in 2012 by Mariusz Gralewski, DocPlanner deals with the creation and management of websites enabling appointments for doctors and reviewing medical services by patients. Thanks to the use of SaaS (Software as a Service) services, it also helps doctors themselves in administering their workflow.

About 30 million patients in 15 countries use the services belonging to DocPlanner, which arrange about 1.5 million visits each month. The company employs a total of over 1,000 people. DocPlanner is the owner of, among others, the ZnanyLekarz.pl website.

Until now, Poland could not boast of a single national unicorn. In this respect, we were losing to some rivals from our region – for example, Romania and Lithuania.
