Polish President Andrzej Duda and the US President Donald Trump signed a new defense agreement on Wednesday that will deploy 1,000 additional US troops to Poland.
"The declaration on further cooperation in the field of defense and the US presence militarily in Poland is a breakthrough," Duda said in Washington. Trump stressed that Poland will provide infrastructure for new troops and thanked Duda for "partnership with Poland for common security".
Asked when Poland will join the Visa Waiver Program, he expressed hope that it will happen "very soon". "We know that the situation is quite complex: not many countries belong to this elite group, we want Poland to belong to this elite group, perhaps in the next 90 days," Trump said.
