EIB to invest PLN 206 mln in University of Silesia
The European Investment Bank will provide PLN 206 million to the University of Silesia to modernize and expand its campuses in Katowice and Cieszyn. The project includes new research and teaching facilities, such as an interdisciplinary chemistry lab and a biotechnology and biodiversity centre, as well as green areas and improved infrastructure. Funded through TechEU, the EU’s flagship innovation programme, the investment supports Poland’s shift toward a knowledge-based economy. The new buildings will feature renewable energy systems, water-retention solutions and climate-resilient design.
This is the first Polish university financed under TechEU’s higher-education scheme, as the EIB plans broader support for academic and research institutions in the coming years.
