Energy funds return
Poland will receive €180 million from the EU Modernisation Fund as part of a wider €2.5 billion disbursement for energy transformation projects across 11 member states. The funds are designed to support modernization of energy systems, energy-efficiency improvements and zero-emission transport in less wealthy EU economies.
Polish projects include thermal-energy storage in district heating systems and energy-efficiency upgrades for multifamily buildings in rural areas. The payout is significant because Poland’s energy transition remains one of the largest investment challenges in the EU, with coal-heavy infrastructure still requiring major modernization. Bankier.pl notes that Poland may receive around PLN 60 billion from the fund over 2021–2030.
