EU approves 14th Russia sanctions

After a month of negotiations, EU countries agreed on the 14th sanctions package against Russia. The measures, designed to restrict the Kremlin's access to technology and limit its energy export revenues, were announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The new sanctions, to be finalized by foreign ministers on June 24, include banning ships carrying Russian goods from European ports and tightening rules against sanction circumvention. The package also restricts the export of dual-use goods and adds over 100 entities to the sanctions list, totaling more than 2,200.
Belgium highlighted the focus on closing legal loopholes and enhancing the impact of existing sanctions, aligning with EU efforts to strengthen mechanisms against sanction evasion.
