EU may impose sanctions for cyberattacks

On Friday, EU countries set a framework to apply EU sanctions to individuals and entities responsible for cyberattacks. This is a response to external cybersecurity threats to the Union and its member states.
Sanctions may also be imposed on cybercriminals attacking other countries or international organizations. The new sanctions system also applies to attempts to conduct cyberattacks with potentially serious consequences.
