European stock markets recording gains for Tuesday

On Tuesday, European stock markets rebounded after a sharp decline on Monday and a four-day losing streak. The Stoxx Europe 600 index rose about 1%, driven by gains in travel, leisure, industrial, and defense stocks. Defense companies, which led recent losses, were among the top performers, with the sector rising over 3%. Semiconductor and engineering firms like ASML and Siemens also saw strong gains. The recent market drop, triggered by concerns over U.S. tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, wiped out €1.7 trillion in value.
Despite the rebound, market conditions remain volatile. The EU proposed 25% retaliatory tariffs, and finance ministers will meet to address potential economic fallout later this week.
