Eurostat: HICP prices in Poland increased by 3.0% y/y in December

Prices calculated according to HICP in Poland increased by 3.0 percent on an annual basis in December 2019 compared to an increase of 2.4 percent a month earlier, Eurostat reported.

Monthly prices rose 0.6 percent.

The CPI index calculated by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) in December amounted to 3.4 percent y/y and 0.8% m/m.

The HICP index is a harmonized index of consumer prices, calculated according to the harmonized methodology of the European Union Statistical Office. According to the inflation criterion contained in the Maastricht Treaty, the HICP is the basis for assessing price stability. Data for HICP inflation come from spending on household budgets and from national accounts, and to the CPI only from spending on household budgets.
