The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area was 7.5% in November 2019 against 7.5% in the previous month, the EU statistics office Eurostat said. A year ago, this ratio was 7.9%. In the entire European Union (EU), this ratio was 6.3% in November against 6.3% a month earlier and 6.6% a year earlier.
Eurostat measures the harmonized unemployment rate as a percentage of unemployed persons aged 15-74 who are able to take up employment in the next two weeks who have been actively looking for work in the last weeks for all professionally active people in a given country.
