The proposed amendment to the Publicly Funded Health Care Services Act will extend prescription rights for free medications to children under 18 and adults over 65, costing PLN 415 million annually and PLN 4.56 billion over ten years. The estimated additional cost for medication reimbursement is PLN 217.5 million for those over 65 and PLN 53.5 million for pediatric patients. Private visit prescriptions for these age groups are estimated at PLN 724 million annually, with at least 20% shifting to the payer's budget. The amendment allows doctors and nurses to prescribe free medications regardless of their contract with the National Health Fund (NFZ), simplifying access and expanding coverage.
