Family Business Forum examines succession challenges
Succession planning, access to capital and protecting family wealth were central themes at the Family Business Forum, held September 29 at Mała Wieś Palace. Organized by Executive Club, the event brought together owners, successors and specialists. Dariusz Duma, president of Family Business Network Poland, argued that family ownership requires trust and boundaries between family relationships and company governance. Panelists urged owners to begin succession planning early, give successors room to gain experience and consider managers from outside the family.
Discussions examined bank loans, private debt and private equity as ways to finance expansion or business transformation. Speakers warned against concentrating family wealth in one company and recommended investment diversification and access to liquid assets. Family foundations were discussed as tools for long-term asset management and succession, rather than simply tax planning. The forum concluded with a workshop on leadership development.
