For 74% of SMEs, convenience of having an account is key

According to a Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) survey, 74% of Polish SMEs choose their first business account based on convenience and having an existing personal account with the same bank. Other factors include attractive financial offers, a strong bank reputation, and easy account setup.
For additional accounts, businesses prioritize mobile banking features and online banking functionality. The study, conducted among 300 SMEs, found that 80% of business owners believe banks can simplify their operations, especially through digital tools like mobile apps (43%) and online access (28%).
Currently, 67% of European SMEs use digital banking, but wider adoption could increase Polish business revenues by PLN 25.7 billion annually. Additionally, 75% of SMEs own at least one business card, primarily used for fuel (60%) and travel expenses.
