Friday fuel price ceilings move lower
Poland’s Energy Ministry has lowered the maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel effective Friday, October 16, the ministry announced Thursday. A liter of 95 octane gasoline may cost no more than PLN 6.95, compared with PLN 7.01 on Thursday. The ceiling for 98 octane gasoline falls to PLN 7.76 from PLN 7.83, while diesel is capped at PLN 8.03 rather than PLN 8.05. All three limits are therefore lower than the previous day.
The figures are maximum prices not prices charged by every station. Retailers may sell below the ceilings. The ministry is scheduled to publish another notice on October 16 setting the limits for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The daily changes affect fuel distributors, business transport costs and motorists, although the pump price at any station depends on the retailer. Minister Miłosz Motyka pointed to lower wholesale prices.
