Gaz-System: market demand four times greater than FSRU terminal capacity
Gaz-System has completed a market study on expanding the capacity of its planned FSRU terminal in Gdańsk. The results show that demand for 2031–2032 nearly quadrupled the planned capacity of a second FSRU unit, designed to regasify 4.5 billion m³ of gas annually. Fourteen domestic and international companies took part, with nearly half of the LNG intended for export to Ukraine, Slovakia, Czechia, and Lithuania—estimated at 6.9–8.9 billion m³ per year.
Gaz-System CEO Sławomir Hinc said the findings confirm LNG’s growing regional importance and justify further development talks. A binding Open Season procedure is planned for Q1 2026. Most participants expressed long-term interest (2028–2048) and preferred bundled regasification services.
