GDP fell by 0.3% q/q in euro area in Q1 2021

The seasonally adjusted Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell by 0.3 percent q/q in the euro area and by 0.1 percent in the entire European Union in Q1 2021, according to the final data of the statistical office Eurostat.

The market consensus for the eurozone was a drop by 0.6 percent quarter on quarter.

In annual terms, seasonally adjusted GDP fell in Q1 this year by 1.3 percent in the euro area and by 1.2 percent in the EU as a whole. The market consensus for the eurozone was a 1.8 percent decline in this approach.
