German tech company, with research and production in Poland, benefits from AI revolution
German family-owned Trumpf supplies laser and plasma technologies used in advanced chipmaking, making it a key beneficiary of AI-driven semiconductor investment. Its CO2 laser powers ASML’s EUV lithography machines, while its plasma power systems support chip deposition and etching. A Trumpf executive warned that global production of chips below 5 nanometers could collapse if the company failed. Trumpf’s Polish division operates four production and R&D sites near Warsaw, employs 1,835 people and expects to reach 2,000 this fiscal year.
In FY2025/26, group revenue was EUR 4.3 bln, up 0.2% y/y, and its order backlog rose 6.6% to more than EUR 4.5 bln. Chinese competition remains a challenge, though Trumpf says it has cut costs and remains competitive.
