Government adopts draft law on land trading

The government has adopted a draft amendment to the law on land trading, which provides for the easing of limitations in the field of agricultural real estate. After the changes, more entities will be able to acquire agricultural land in Poland.
The proposed amendment enlarges the catalog of cases in which the provisions of the law on shaping the agricultural system will not be applied. For example, everybody will be able to purchase an agricultural property, including plots sized less than one hectare, even if one does not enjoy the status of an individual farmer. A significant change concerns the reduction from 10 to 5 years of the period during which the buyer of an agricultural property must run a farm, with no permission to sell it.
