Grupa Azoty shares sold off after Orlen’s decision. Over PLN 200 mln down

On Tuesday, July 15, Grupa Azoty's stock dropped over 14%, erasing more than PLN 300 million in market value, making it one of the steepest declines on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The sharp fall followed Orlen’s official statement that it is not interested in acquiring the Polimery Police project, which Grupa Azoty had hoped to sell due to its heavy debt burden.
Although negotiations between the two companies will continue until July 31, Orlen ruled out any ownership stake. Investors reacted negatively, leading to massive sell-offs and trading volume exceeding PLN 43 million. Grupa Azoty's market value fell from PLN 2.19 billion to 1.88 billion in just one day.
