GUS: financial situation of households improved in 2024

In 2024, the financial situation of Polish households improved significantly, driven by higher wages (including a raised minimum wage) and increased social benefits, while inflation slowed, according to GUS (Statistics Poland). The average disposable income per person rose to PLN 3,167, up 18.3% nominally and 14.1% in real terms compared to 2023.
Monthly expenses per person reached PLN 1,878, growing 10.8% in real terms. The share of spending in income dropped to 59.3%, indicating greater savings capacity. The share of households earning below PLN 2,000 per person fell to 18.9%, while those earning over PLN 6,000 rose to 8.6%. All socio-economic groups saw higher real spending, especially retirees and wage earners.
