GUS: in August, plants declared 2,400 layoffs
In August 2024, companies declared plans to lay off 2,400 employees, compared to 1,540 in August 2023, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). In July 2024, the number was 4,900. At the end of August 2024, there were 19,760 announced planned group layoffs, compared to 18,430 in August 2023 and 19,400 in July.
