GUS: more registrations of new companies in Q1 2019
In the first quarter of this year 95,300 new firms were registered (4.3 percent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year).
According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), the increase in the number of registrations occurred, among others in construction (by 20.7 percent), accommodation and catering (by 13.5 percent), IT and communication (by 3.4 percent) as well as transport and storage (by 2.0 percent). On the other hand, the number of bankruptcies of business entities in the first quarter of 2019 amounted to 155, which represented an increase of 11.5 percent. compared to the same period last year.
