According to preliminary data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS), developers in Poland have increased residential construction significantly, with the number of building permits and notifications rising by 30% y/y, totaling 196,400 units by the end of August 2024. Of these, developers accounted for over 138,000 permits, marking a 40% increase.
However, the number of newly completed apartments fell by nearly 11% compared to the previous year, with approximately 128,800 units delivered. The average area of newly built apartments was 90.2 m², down 12.7% y/y. The most significant construction activity was reported in Mazowieckie, Małopolskie, and Wielkopolskie provinces, while Świętokrzyskie, Lubuskie, and Opolskie provinces showed the weakest growth.
