Head of IAEA passes away

The General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, died, the agency said on Monday.
The statement confirms the media speculation that has appeared since last week that the 72-year-old Amano intended to resign from his function before the end of his term. He planned to announce on Monday that he will resign from office in March 2020 for health reasons. His present, third term (4 years long each) would expire at the end of November 2021.
