Residents of Konstancin-Jeziorna are protesting a large residential project planned by developer Arche in the former paper mill area in Mirków. A petition opposing the second stage of the investment has already gathered over 700 signatures. Critics argue that the planned 2,000 new apartments would create a dense “block housing estate” that does not fit the character of the spa town and could bring around 10,000 new residents, overwhelming local roads and infrastructure.Supporters of the revitalization note that the abandoned factory currently degrades the area and warn that if housing is blocked, the land may instead be developed into warehouse facilities.

The dispute unfolds amid political tensions and an ongoing effort to recall the mayor, who has declined to comment.
