Prices of consumer goods and services in January 2020 increased by 4.4 percent y/y, and in comparison with the previous month, prices increased by 0.9 percent, Central Statistical Office (GUS). It was much above the expectations of the market (4,2 percent and 0.5 percent respectively).
The biggest increase was recorded in food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products – the prices of these products soared up by 6.7 percent.
Thus, the development ministry claims that inflation will slow down to 4.2 percent y/y in February.
