Inflation seen to grow slightly in December - Ministry of Development

The Ministry of Development expects inflation to accelerate slightly in December. The Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Friday in the quick estimate that inflation amounted to 2.6 percent in annual terms in November against 2.5 percent y/y in October. Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 6.5 percent y /y, while the prices of fuels for private transport decreased by 5.5 percent y/y.
"These estimates are in line with the expectations of the Ministry of Development. In December, we expect a slight acceleration in the growth rate of the index," the ministry said. It noted, however, that increased demand during the holiday season should contribute to keeping the level of food prices.
