Ireland Investigates Elon Musk's AI Over Data Privacy Concerns

Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) has launched an investigation into Elon Musk's platform X (formerly Twitter) over the use of European users' data to train its AI model, Grok. The probe aims to determine whether X's data processing practices comply with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The DPC is scrutinizing how publicly available posts on X were utilized in developing Grok, an AI chatbot created by Musk's startup xAI. This investigation follows previous concerns, as last year X agreed to halt the use of EU citizens' data for AI training after legal challenges in Ireland.
The outcome of this inquiry could have significant implications for transatlantic data practices and may intensify tensions between the EU and the U.S. regarding technology regulations. As of now, X has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
