The index of the economic situation in the processing industry calculated by the Institute for Economic Development of the Warsaw School of Economics (IRG SGH) increased by 3.7 points m/m and amounted to 1.5 points in April this year, the Institute reported. It is higher than the value from the previous year by 39.3 points.
"The value of the general business climate index IRG SGH (IRGIND) increased for the sixth month in a row. This time by 3.7 points. Currently, it is 1.5 points and is higher than the previous year's value by 39.3 points. Increases prevail for various groups of producers. In the breakdown by main product groups, a decrease in the value of the index was recorded only for producers of consumer goods (by 4.5 points)," the release reads.
The situation improved most in the production of capital goods (an increase in the IRGIND value by 8.5 points), the Institute reported.
In the cross-section according to the size of the enterprise, an increase in the value of the economic situation indicator was recorded for all groups of enterprises – the largest, by 17.2 points, for enterprises employing more than 500 people, and the lowest, by 1.4 points, for enterprises employing 51-250 people. According to the Institute, producers report an increase in production volume, total and export orders, and employment; Finished goods prices and inventories continue to rise.
