From 10 to 13 March 2026, Kraków presented its investment potential at the MIPIM International Trade Fair in Cannes, one of the world's most important events for the real estate and investment industry. This year's 36th edition attracted more than 20,000 participants from nearly 90 countries, including representatives of global funds, developers, financial institutions and public administrations. The event remains a key platform for knowledge exchange, project presentation, and business relationship building.

Kraków, together with the municipal company Kraków Nowa Huta of the Future, used its presence in Cannes to promote available investment sites and the most important infrastructure projects planned for the coming years. The city's offer consisted mainly of properties for industrial investment, including activities related to modern industry and to fostering the further economic activation of Nowa Huta. The city also encouraged investors to take an interest in Wesoła, a new cultural, innovation and leisure district located in the city center. Particular attention was drawn to the planned metro, a project of strategic importance for mobility, accessibility, and economic growth.  Investor interest in Kraków was reinforced by broader global trends. Companies are increasingly relocating production closer to Europe and shortening supply chains, strengthening operational resilience. At the same time, modern industry and logistics are returning to urban regions, creating demand for well-prepared industrial land such as that available in Nowa Huta. Rapid growth in data centers, driven by artificial intelligence and digitalization, is also shaping demand, alongside the rising importance of access to energy infrastructure. In this context, Kraków’s available land and developing energy solutions position the city as a competitive and stable investment location.

THE METRO AS A CATALYST FOR DEVELOPMENT

One of the most frequently discussed topics during meetings with investors visiting Kraków's stand was the planned construction of the metro. For foreign partners, this is a signal that the city is taking long-term and systemic measures to meet the needs of a growing metropolis. Investors emphasized that the metro significantly increases the predictability of spatial

and economic development, which in practice reduces investment risk and creates new opportunities. The metro is expected to improve accessibility across key development areas, including Nowa Huta, giving existing investment sites additional momentum. It will also contribute to higher property values and increased project profitability, as demonstrated in other major European cities. A modern transport system strengthens Kraków’s competitiveness, particularly for the business services, industrial, and technology sectors. For many investors, the metro represents tangible evidence of the city’s long-term development strategy and its readiness for large-scale projects. At the same time, it will improve the quality of life for residents and support the city’s broader metropolitan role. The project also aligns with sustainability goals. Access to efficient public transport is increasingly important for investors guided by ESG criteria. The metro will help reduce emissions, ease pressure on road infrastructure, and support climate objectives, further enhancing Kraków’s attractiveness.

WESOŁA: THE NEW OLD DISTRICT

Wesoła, a central area of more than 9 hectares, also attracted strong interest. The project envisions the transformation of this space into a green district combining culture, innovation, and public life. Plans include cultural institutions, creative spaces, and modern public infrastructure, integrated with extensive green areas such as gardens, recreational zones, and open spaces. This represents a rare opportunity to create a new district in the center of a major European city, appealing to investors looking for stable, long-term projects.

KRAKÓW AMONG LEADERS IN INVESTMENT

Polish cities and regions presented themselves strongly in Cannes, promoting Poland as a country with significant investment potential. Kraków, as one of the country’s leading business centers, continues to benefit from its consistent presence at international events. The city has participated in MIPIM since 1997 and has maintained its own stand since 2005. This long-term strategy has In collaboration with The City of Kraków . The city's presence at MIPIM should be seen in a long-term perspective, allowing it to systematically strengthen its brand and image as a modern, prosperous and open-minded city strengthened Kraków’s recognition and credibility among international investors, reflected in the high level of interest and the number of business meetings held this year.

INVESTMENT IN KRAKÓW'S FUTURE

The city's presence at MIPIM should be seen in a long-term perspective, allowing it to systematically strengthen its brand and image as a modern, prosperous and open-minded city.  This is where relationships are built, which can lead to concrete investment projects in the future. In a period of rapid global change, including energy

transition, digitalization, and evolving supply chains, active promotion of the city is more important than ever. The planned construction of the metro, New Wesoła, the development of the Nowa Huta area and the knowledge economy, as well as the city's consistent promotion, form a coherent strategy that strengthens Kraków's position as one of the most attractive places to invest and live in Europe.
