More than every tenth Pole faces poverty

Despite the growing level of life in Poland, as many as 13 percent of households faced poverty in 2018. This is a 1 percentage point decrease compared to 2015, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS) data. 

The poverty threshold also grew over the last years. The most people affected by poverty live in villages (21 percent) and small towns.

The highest share of households facing poverty was recorded in Lubelskie voivodship, while in Mazowieckie voivodship this share is the smallest.
