Doctors are sounding the alarm: fear of Covid-19 infection, fewer and fewer women come to mammography and pap smears. According to actresses, Anna Iberszer and Daria Widawska, fear of the coronavirus should not be a reason for giving up prophylaxis. Regular tests allow detecting an oncological disease at an early stage of development when there is the best chance for effective treatment.
Patients avoid visiting a doctor, and the effect of negligence is that more and more people with the advanced disease come to cancer clinics and often there is no rescue for them. In Poland, 100,000 people die every year due to cancer. Oncologists are sounding the alarm: if patients do not return to the doctors, do not diagnose themselves, and do not use prophylaxis, cancer will take a greater and greater toll. The actresses Daria Widawska and Anna Iberszer join this appeal.
"The fear of coronavirus infection is greater than the fear of any other disease. In this fear, we do not do the basic examinations we used to do, and we do not pay attention to changes that may be caused by any other ailment or serious disease. Nevertheless, I encourage all my colleagues that they do not stop medical examinations, because the pandemic will hopefully pass, and the problem of breast cancer remains. Of course, it's easy to say, but very often it is difficult to do because at the moment we have limited access to hospitals, medical facilities where such a physical can be done," Anna Iberszer said.
