Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska, the silver medalist of the Olympic Games (Women's Quadruple Sculls - rowing), assures that she has already learned to cope with the stress that accompanies, for example, participation in prestigious competitions. According to her, the most important thing is the right mental attitude, because you win with the head. And when personal problems or unfinished business distract your attention, it's hard to focus on the competition.
Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska admits that the most necessary stress in sport is mobilizing and motivating to act. However, you cannot go to extremes. You have to be able to distinguish between positive and negative emotions. Otherwise, we cannot cope with the pressure we impose on ourselves.
"I believe that stress is important and necessary, but only in the right amount. If we are stressed, it means that we care about something. I was stressed about the Games because I wanted to do it. To deal with this stress, I try to be positive and focus only on the task to be done, not on things that are beyond our control. For example, the weather in Tokyo was very bad for us, and I thought before the start: no matter, I have to win this medal, I'm not interested in this weather, I have to do everything to win," Agnieszka Kobus-Zawojska said.
