Norm Architects Studio was founded in Copenhagen in 2008 by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn. Since then, the studio has become one of the hottest design offices in Denmark, known for phenomenal architecture, interior projects, and industrial design based on simplicity, quality, and timelessness
When DUXIANA, a company collaborating with the best Scandinavian designers, invited Norm Architects to explore the DUX archive for inspiration for a new collection, the studio focused on Dumus chairs. The original models, made of wood and steel and designed by Alfa Svensson, premiered at H55, an international exhibition in Helsinki in 1955. You can now purchase the contemporary versions of these Nordic classics at the Polish DUXIANA showroom.
When DUXIANA asked Norm Architects to select a collection of classic DUX furniture that would work well in modern private and commercial interiors, the architects didn’t have to think long. “We chose Domus because we wanted to create a piece of furniture that perfectly fits the aesthetic of Norm Architects”, says Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, founder and creative director. “These chairs have incredible elegant aesthetic detail that complements the existing DUX collection and provide users with the highest level of comfort, they can be placed in any bedroom or living room.” The architects retained the original form and modernized the design. They added new seats, adjusted dimensions, and changed the material used. They also designed a table and footstool made of solid oak and finished with wax to perfectly match the chairs. Even the minimalist Anna headboard, made of oak and textile material, was redesigned.
