The first tranche of aid for local governments in flood-affected areas, consisting of PLN 21 million in grants and PLN 100 million in low-interest loans, will soon be sent to the Opole and Lower Silesia regions, announced Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska. The funds, from the National Fund for Environmental Protection's disaster reserve, will be used for immediate needs like power generators and dehumidifiers.
Additionally, around PLN 100 million in loans, with interest rates between 1.5% and 2.5%, will be available for flood recovery, including repairs to sewage systems, water treatment plants, and waste sites. The government aims to simplify the application process for the funds, with more resources becoming available after declaring a state of emergency in the affected areas.
