Lumina advances Nowa Sól copper project
Canadian miner Lumina Metals is moving its Nowa Sól copper-silver project from exploration toward environmental work, with a preliminary feasibility study expected in the second half of 2027. Chief executive Jordan Pandoff said changes to Poland’s mining tax have improved the project’s economics, reducing the estimated fiscal burden from roughly 80 percent to below 70 percent, although he said comparable NATO jurisdictions remain lower.
Lumina listed in Warsaw in June and raised about PLN 1 billion after receiving orders worth roughly PLN 4 billion. The company says the proceeds can fund roughly four years of development work. It is also discussing potential concentrate deliveries with KGHM under a letter of intent. Pandoff argues that NATO economies consume nearly 6 million tons of copper annually but produce only about half that amount, supporting the case for European supply and processing capacity.
