Min of Digitalization: Nowa Itaka hacked, customer data exposed
Poland’s Minister of Digital Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, announced that a hacker attack on the travel agency Nowa Itaka led to a leak of login-related data belonging to some customers. Specialists from NASK are working with the company, and law enforcement has begun operations to identify the attackers. Customers will soon be able to check on the website bezpiecznedane.gov.pl whether their accounts were affected. Gawkowski advised those impacted to quickly change passwords, enable two-factor authentication, use a password manager, monitor accounts, and consider securing their PESEL number via the mObywatel app.
Itaka confirmed that unauthorized access affected about 10,000 users’ personal contact details, but no booking, financial, or password data was exposed. The company has secured systems and notified relevant authorities.
