Min of Sport and Tourism wants to limit grey economy in accommodation
Poland’s Ministry of Sport and Tourism is preparing regulations for short-term rentals, including a central register and fire safety requirements. The ministry estimates that 30% to 35% of accommodation properties may operate outside existing registers, while as many as 100,000 apartments may be used for tourism. Municipalities would register properties, with the data sent to the ministry. Deputy Minister Ireneusz Raś said changes should be introduced gradually. Proposed fire safety rules would apply to certain buildings from 2029 for new developments and January 1, 2030, for existing properties.
The ministry also plans to revise hotel classification rules and address booking platform practices that may restrict competition.
