The Ministry of Climate and Environment is initiating a program for the de-concretization of urban centers with up to 50,000 inhabitants, with a budget of PLN 140 million, as announced by the ministry.
The maximum amount of funding for investments is set to reach up to PLN 2 million. The funds are intended to support the creation of permeable surfaces, parks, and gardens, as well as the construction of retention reservoirs.
The goal of the program is to prevent the phenomenon of the urban heat island: the elimination of materials such as concrete, asphalt, and bricks that absorb more sunlight than they reflect, subsequently releasing energy and raising the ambient temperature, explains the ministry.
