The Ministry of Agriculture aims to shift the balance of power in the food supply chain, favoring producers over large retail chains, according to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. Deputy Minister Michał Kołodziejczak expressed concern over the "price war" between discount giants Lidl and Biedronka. He announced plans to form an inter-ministerial group, including finance, development, and agriculture representatives, to investigate how these chains exploit their dominant market position. The rivalry between Lidl and Biedronka, marked by frequent promotions, has intensified price pressure, impacting suppliers. Some retailers allegedly force suppliers into exclusive deals, threatening to cut ties if they work with competitors. Complaints about this price war have also reached Poland's competition authority (UOKiK).
